Meet Clancy, Matilda & Mabel
Our Irish-English miniature donkeys are the friendliest hosts on Tamborine. They’ll amble over for hand-feeding, pose shamelessly for photos, and generally steal the show while you graze on gourmet treats.
Clancy
Matilda’s brother and the herd’s resident charmer. Clancy takes his carrots very seriously.
Expect theatrics, soulful stares, and a nose in your picnic if you’re slow with the snacks.
Matilda
Leader of the herd and entirely aware of it. Matilda runs the paddock with quiet authority, greets guests like a gracious host, and expects her brother to behave.
He doesn’t.
Mabel
The baby of the family, same mum and dad, just fashionably late.
Mabel has the gentlest nature of the three and happily trails after her big brother and sister, collecting pats along the way.
A picnic worth bragging about
You’ll arrive to a beautifully styled set-up: plush cushions, full table settings, glassware and all the stunning details; waiting in a secret paddock with countryside views to Tamborine Mountain. Your only job is to eat, sip, and make new four-legged friends.

Set up before you arrive: picnic rugs and cushions for a romantic vibe, or table seating for comfort. You choose when booking.

Our team serves each course, tops up drinks and introduces the donkeys properly, you're looked after from hello to goodbye.

Cooking, styling, hosting and pack-down are all ours. You simply arrive at the Bearded Dragon, Tamborine - and enjoy.

How much does it cost?
$145 per person, minimum of 2 adult guests. That covers your two-hour private picnic, chef-prepared two-course menu, styled set-up, your choice of fresh juice, and quality time with Matilda, Clancy & Mabel.
Children eating from the Kids Menu cost $35 person and must be accompanied by a paying adult.
When can we book?
Picnics run seven days a week, morning or afternoon, subject to availability. Book online to see live time slots, or enquire with our Events Team for alternate times.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
Absolutely. Your group chooses one menu and we cater for dietaries individually — vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies and more. Just tell us when you book.
Rugs or table seating?
Your choice! Picnic rugs with cushions for a relaxed, romantic vibe, or table seating for comfort and ease — pick your style when booking.
How long does the picnic go for?
Two blissful hours. Not ready to say goodbye to the donkeys? Ask our team about extensions when booking.
We're a big group — any deals?
Yes! Groups of 10 or more receive a discount. A favourite for birthdays, hens days and team outings — enquire to arrange.
What if the weather turns?
Tamborine weather has a mind of its own. If conditions aren’t picnic-friendly, our Events Team will work with you to rearrange your booking.
