Rainforests
& Waterfalls
Tamborine is very popular with day visitors seeking picnic facilitiesand
short bushwalks in a natural environment. The park had its beginnings
when early settlers had the foresight to seek declaration of a National
Park at Witches Falls. Declared in 1908, Witches Falls was Queensland's
first National Park.
Over the years additional reserves have been declared and today the park
is made up of 17 sections of land on Tamborine Plateau and its surrounding
foothills. Tamborine Plateau is the northern-most remnant of a large shield
volcano which was centred on Mt Warning in northern New South Wales 23
million years ago.
