Queensland singer-songwriter Mel Lukin is making 2023 her year with new music, new branding and plenty of positive vibes. After a year of creative soul-searching, songwriting and collaborating, Mel has emerged with her new single, One Way Ticket, and there’s no turning back.
Having lived in Fiji, the Philippines, and other island nations, the Gold Coast artist has a love for the tropics, and her brand of contemporary country music blends with a relaxed, chilled and ‘beachy’ vibe.
Music has been Mel’s life from training as a dancer and a singer, performing on cruise ships and stages across the world, to finding her home in Contemporary-Country with her stunning vocals and positive messages to share. You can hear the influences of Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, The Chicks, and Faith Hill throughout her releases.
One Way Ticket is a re-launch of sorts for Mel, but she’s no stranger to the music world, having recorded her first EP, ‘First Breath’ in 2007, with award-winning producer Stuart Stuart. In 2020 Mel released her debut single “On the Water” which was the feature song of HBE US TV series, “Almost Paradise” and in 2021 her song ‘Caught up in a Dream’ featured on sales and radio charts. The music video for Caught up in a Dream also featured on Foxtel’s CMT.
“There have been several beautifully upbeat country pop songs released this year – perhaps as an antidote to 2020 – and this is one of the best, due to Lukin’s skill as a singer as well as the construction of the song.” – Sunburnt Country Festival and concert-goers are lapping up Mel’s vocal prowess and storytelling songs with strong messages and she featured on the lineup for ‘Country on Keppel 2021’ alongside, Brad Butcher, Matt Cornell and James Blundell.
