The Mason Rack Band is now on their third tour of Canada! They have been invited, once again, to the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival (2005, 2008, & 2009). The band has recently been tearing up the international scene and have leaped into the higher performing spectrum of live blues rock. Their success is due to Masons huge stage presence and creativity.

There is a great drum duel where Mason walks out into the audience playing anything he can find, only to challenge the drummer Joel Purkess in Canada to fight back. The show leaves the audience gob smacked and craving more; they have never seen anything like it before! Some try to imitate it and that only goes to show the new ground breaking ideas Mason is bringing to the live stage.

Now with their new bassist Marcus Engel in Canada the band is truly making their mark on Canada.

Marcus Engel

Fretless Bass

Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada

Marcus Engel has always been involved with music. Since an early age he has studied a variety of instruments before finding his identity as a bass player.

Before studying jazz bass at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Marcus played in rock and roll bands in his native Winnipeg while immersing himself in a constant diet of progressive rock and funk.

Drawing influence from great bassists like Geddy Lee, Bootsy Collins, Chris Squire,Rocco Prestia, and Jannick Top, he forged a heavy, groovy rock style not often applied to the fretless bass.

Marcus now plays with an Edmonton based funk band and a jazz band, as well as just being hired by Mason Rack to perform on his Canadian tour.
